This last week I was on my lunch break and had decided to go down to the local skatepark with a friend. The day had been a good day to skate with the weather just right. Getting warmed up, I was landing every trick that I had in my bag, along with smooth landings.

One trick after another and things were coming along quite well. I decided to over come a rail that I have not jumped over before and on the first attempt I fell on the nose of my skateboard. I got up, brushed myself off thinking I would try the jump one more time. Getting back to the starting point I pushed harder this time with speeding, getting ready for the little leap.

Over the rail I went, coming to  a quick stop, tapping the rail with the back of my board. My back ankle gave away from behind me. Pain rushed up my leg crawling up my whole body. I looked downward to see my front foot straight along with my back foot in a direction that was not correct. With adrenaline rushing through my body, I snapped it back in place screaming at the top of my lungs.

Starting the morning of arriving at work, it was a simple day. Calling clients, making sure my bags of coffee were labeled, and a quick lunch break to get a fresh breath of air from the lower level basement that I work in.  How things can change so quickly from a simple morning at work to laying in the ER with my mother waiting for the doctors news. What am I to do for work now? How am I going to be able to pay my bills? Young and restless did I lay, but knowing I was in good hands.

There are many situations that I have gotten myself into, knowing that things were going to be alright. There has been situations when I was not fully sure how it was going to work out. This year though the verse:  ” But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:33-34. Has come my mind.

I know and believe that when our focus is seeking His kingdom first and His righteousness, the things we believe to be impossible becomes possible. Past understanding or even peace that we may want to find comfort with in today’s everyday life.

In a simple breaking of my ankle and now being couch ridden for a bit. I know that it will be okay because I know what my focus is. I have seen the impossible become possible.

Walking out the day in faith, just these thoughts with one foot up.
