Ok so you say that is bold… Yep, I guess it is, however don’t shoot the messenger. I didn’t write the book just applying the instruction…
Look at this passage in Joshua 22 where he has brought together the tribes to speak over them for their obedience. Notice his clear direction in Joshua 22:5.
“But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.”
I love how God gives us tidbits of clear direction as to how to live our lives.
He gives us direction back to the “plumb” line of Jesus… LOVE LOVE LOVE… as our hearts surrender to Him and fall in love with HIM, the rest falls into place so much easier.
Think about it — put it into a practical application, of say, your spouse or children. When you are in love, or love your children, you are willing to love them with ALL you have. For your spouse you walk under his authority, and honor him and trust that he will lead you as God directs him.
We are called to serve our husbands in being a back to promote them in their call. Now that is practical, however take it to a grander level where now the King of King and Lord of all Lords, the GREAT I AM has given you access to His throne room to have access as an adopted child to all that HE has in heaven through the blood of His only Son Jesus.
WOW… Now THAT is radical Love… so as we surrender to HIS love in our lives, we naturally want to honor and obey Him for His plans for us are good! He is our steadfast and we can depend on HIM in ALL things!! Now the tail end of those scriptures which we so seem to miss… SERVE HIM!
You are called to serve, and I can tell from a life of serving in ministry, when you serve… YOU ARE FULL! Serving is such a power piece of our walk with God, because it mirrors God and what HE came to the earth to do..
To serve not be served.
He did that without any expectation of anything in return. In fact He was mocked and ridiculed because of His servanthood to His father. Yet in His service, He changed the world. Let me encourage you, if you are not serving in your church, in your community, in your schools; invest in being a server…
YOU have been called to reach the lost, and we can’t do that sitting in the seats at church every week heading home and never pouring out all that is being poured into us. Share what Jesus is doing…
Serve those around you and I promise you, you will come alive like never before… Cause we are created in HIS image, and in that image was the very servant heart of the very one that came to earth, fully God fully man that YOU could be saved and set free!
Joshua 22 Then Joshua called together the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. 2 He told them, “You have done as Moses, the servant of the Lord, commanded you, and you have obeyed every order I have given you. 3 During all this time you have not deserted the other tribes. You have been careful to obey the commands of the Lord your God right up to the present day.
4 And now the Lord your God has given the other tribes rest, as he promised them. So go back home to the land that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you as your possession on the east side of the Jordan River.
5 But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.” 6 So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went home.
